"La Mediterranee et le monde mediterraneen a l' epoque de Philippe II" was first published in France in 1949 by Librairie Armand Colin. A second, revised edition, in two volumes, was published in 1966. It was translated into english and published in two volumes in 1972-3 by William Collins Sons & Co. in the UK and Harper & Row in the USA. This Folio edition follows the text of the 1972-3 translation, with some minor emendations.
